This cemetery was established in 1824 and contains the most accomplished examples of tombstone sculpture in the city. You will have a sense of “Victorian” nostalgia as you enter the iron gates and slowly drive along the winding lanes. Many prominent antebellum Lynchburg families and Confederate officers are entombed here including Generals Robert E. Rodes and Samuel Garland, Jr. and Colonel August Forsberg. Open dawn to dusk. Entrance is on Grace Street.
