Daniel Statue

This statue depicts John Warwick Daniel, a native of Lynchburg and officer on Jubal Early’s staff. Daniel was wounded three times during the war. Following the war he served five terms as a U.S. Senator. Forever bearing the effects of his war wounds he was known as the “Lame Lion of Lynchburg.” The statue was sculpted by Jewish Confederate veteran, Moses Ezekial. Ezekial created more than 50 statues throughout Europe and the United States and was knighted in Italy and Germany.
