The Academy of Fine Arts Music Theater, built in 1905, will be the centerpiece of a regional visual and performing arts center. The complex includes a studio Theatre and a historic theatre, which is undergoing renovation. The Theatre showcases a variety of performances including jazz, opera, improv competitions, magic shows, and professional road shows. The Arts Education Building includes classrooms for visual arts, music, pottery, photography, and dance. The Academy of Fine Arts, anchored by the historic Academy of Music Theatre, inspires, engages and educates the diverse population of Central Virginia in the performing and visual arts.
